Looking Glass Rock
Description: Looking Glass Rock is located about 27mi south of Moab and is one of the countless arches in the area. Due to its distinctive shape, the sandstone rock was once used as a landmark along the Old Spanish Trail.
You can reach the arch by taking a turnoff from Highway 191 onto a dirt road about 24mi south of Moab. Follow this for about 3mi and you are right in front of the arch. The dirt road was in very good condition when we visited in May 2023. There is also a parking lot in front of the arch and some interesting information boards.
The arch is located slightly above on the sandstone cliff. If you want to get to it, you have to do a little scrambling. There is no marked trail.
Our rating: Huge stone arches are always impressive, so we think it's well worth making a short detour. You should be able to see everything here in just under an hour.
