Black Rock Lava Flow

Description: Black Rock Lava Flow is part of the Lumar Crater volcanic field and is located just off Highway 6 between Ely and Tonopah. A small unpaved spur road leads to the parking lot. This was in pretty good shape when we visited in September 2019. From the parking lot there is a short trail that leads into the lava field. Here you can walk around more or less freely.

Our rating: We became aware of the lava field through a sign on the road and made a small stop. The whole site is not necessarily super spectacular, but quite a nice stop on the long way between Ely and Tonopah. Good to stretch the legs a little.
