The Musical Road

Description: Honda originally built Musical Row in Lancaster in 2008 for an advertising campaign. The music is created by grooves in the asphalt. If you drive down the road at around 55mph, you can hear the finale of the overture from Rossini's opera William Tell.

Shortly after installation, residents complained and the City of Lancaster was forced to move Musical Row to a more remote location.

Our rating:  Surely not a must see but quite funny. We liked the detour because it was something unusual that you do not get everywhere.

Four Aces Movie Set

Description: A very nice movie location with diner, gas station and motel. The facility is located at the intersection of 145th St E and E Ave Q. It's really in the middle of nowhere and you wonder how anyone could ever find this location.

This set is often used for music videos and TV series. Actually, one of my favorite series, OK, one episode of it, was shot here. Namely the 8th episode of the 4th season of OC California.

Our rating: It was cool to be on the set of one of my favorite series. We also found the set quite nice. For someone who isn't interested in movie locations, however, it's probably not worth the trip. This is already very remote.

Club Ed Movie Set

Description: Club Ed Movie Set is located very close to Four Aces. It is also a diner with a gas station. You are not allowed to enter the area, it is gated and there are people monitoring it as well. When we were here in February 2016, a pickup truck also pulled up 5 minutes after we arrived to see what we were doing.

This set was built in 1990 for the movie Eye of the Storm with Denis Hopper and was used for numerous movies and series after that. It is located at the intersection of 150th St E and Ave L.

Our rating: This is also only for real fans of such locations. We found it quite nice and photogenic, even if you could only look from the street.

Kill bill Church

Description: The Sanctuary Adventist Church served as a filming location for the Quentin Tarantino movies Kill Bill Parts 1 and 2. Like the other two locations, this one is also located in total nowhere, at the corner of 198th StE and E Ave G. Here, too, everything is fenced off and for a few years now there has been a truck parked in front of the church, so you can't take any photos. But should the owner be on the spot, he drives the truck away and allows the visitors to enter the church.

Our rating: We visited the church in February 2016. Fortunately, there was no truck in front of it. We liked the location very much, but this is also only something for fans.
