Keddie Wye
Description: Keddie WYE is a railroad bridge north of the small town of Keddie. It is a Y-shaped railroad crossing. It belongs to the Union Pacific Railroad and was built in 1909. The section of track is part of the connection from San Francisco to Salt Lake City.
Shortly after the bridge there is a large area on the right side of the road where you can park. To get to the bridge you have to walk back a bit along the side of the busy road. Care must be taken here, as there is no sidewalk. Above the bridge there is a small path where you can hike down a bit.
We did not discover a legal way to get under the bridge. The only road visible on the map that leads down is private and labeled with no trespassing . On the other side of the river there is something like a lodge or a campground. We didn't try out how well you can see the bridge from there.
Our rating: An unusual bridge that offers a nice photo op. We liked it. For railroad fans certainly a must see.
