Jelly Belly Candy Company
Description: Jelly Belly's, the sweet jelly beans made in more than 50 flavors, can be found here in Fairfield.
Founded in 1869 by Gustav Goelitz in Belleville/Illinois, the company now operates worldwide under the name Jelly Belly Candy Company. Jelly Belly's became famous through Ronald Reagan, who became a big fan. His favorite flavor was licorice.
The complex is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and, in addition to a factory outlet and a café, also offers free self-guided tours of the factory. You walk through the halls on a gallery and can take a look down at the production lines. After the tour, you get to try some of the sweet Belly's.
Our rating: We visited the Jelly Belly factory in September 2019. The tour was quite interesting and you could learn a lot about the sweet Belly's. Afterwards, you can try all the manufactured varieties at the sample bar. Some tasted really delicious, others rather not so much. For all sweet ones who are ever in the vicinity, a little detour to the factory is definitely worthwhile.
