Tumacácori NHP
Description: Three Spanish missions are located within the Tumacácori NHP. Mission San José de Tumacácori is the oldest in southern Arizona. It was founded in 1691 by the Jesuit Father Eusebio Kino. In 1848 the mission was abandoned and fell into disrepair. In 1908, it was declared a National Monument by Theodore Roosevelt. In 1990, the mission became part of Tumacácori National Historic Park.
Our rating: We liked the mission very much. Especially the not quite perfect condition made it even more interesting for us. There is also a very interesting museum where you can learn a lot of interesting facts about the time when the mission was inhabited.
