Horseshoe Bend

Description: Like many highlights around Page, Horseshoe Bend is regularly crowded with people. That's why the parking lot was significantly enlarged in 2018 and a barrier was installed at the viewpoint to channel the crowds a bit. Only time will tell if this will be enough. However, you should be prepared for a lot of people. Unfortunately, there is no longer a deserted trail as in the photos.

Basically, there is no entrance fee if you want to visit Horseshoe Bend, but you are required to park in the parking lot at the trailhead. The parking fee is $10/car. Parking along Highway 89 is not allowed.

Trail length: 1.49mi roundtrip
Altitude difference:
Time needed: 1 hour
Difficulty level: easy - In the summer it can get very hot here.

Meanwhile, there is an established trail that leads around the hill. Moreover, the path is paved and there are shelters that provide shade in the hot months of summer. Since the trail is only a few hundred feet long and flat, it is very easy to walk. We have not seen this new path yet. The photos are from the time when there was neither a viewing platform nor a paved path.

Horseshoe Bend is located on the territory of the Glen Canyon NRA.

Our rating: Quite a great viewpoint at the 980ft deep gorge of the Colorado. Unfortunately, the experience is considerably limited in recent years by the many people who bustle here. If you are not bothered by this, we can highly recommend a visit. If you are in Page for the first time and have never been here before, you should not miss it anyway. The view is breathtaking.
