Dallas
The North - Texas
Dallas is the third largest city in Texas and the ninth largest city in the United States.
We knew Dallas mostly as the place where J.F.K. was shot and of course as the city where J.R. Ewing did his dirty business. During our visit in February 2018, we were very unlucky with the weather. It was basically pouring rain the entire time, so we were able to look at virtually nothing outside. But we had plenty of time to look at the Sixth Floor Museum in detail.
The Sixth Floor Museum
Description: The museum is dedicated not only to the assassination, but also to the life and legend of John F. Kennedy. The Sixth Floor Museum is located on the sixth floor, the floor of the building from which Lee Harvey Oswald shot the then president on November 22, 1963. It offers the same view the assassin had of Dealey Plaza as the limousine drove through the streets of Dallas. Two days after Lee Harvey Oswald was arrested, he was shot by nightclub owner Jack Ruby.
Our rating: The museum is very impressive and interesting. There is something oppressive about standing in the same place from which such a special person was killed. To anyone interested in the history of J.F.K., we can highly recommend this museum. It is worth it.
Entrance fees and opening hours

West End
Description: The historic West End is directly adjacent to the skyscrapers of Downtown. The handsome historic brick buildings are now mainly populated by restaurants, stores and museums. It is one of the tourist attractions of Downtown Dallas.
Our rating: Unfortunately, we had the worst weather imaginable during our visit, so our visit was very short. As far as one can judge in the continuous rain, everything looked quite pretty. We can well imagine that the whole thing has quite atmosphere on a mild summer evening, in nice weather.
Cattle Drive, Pioneer Plaza
Description: The 40 bronze sculptures and 3 riders were created by Robert Summer. The project had a total cost of $9 million and commemorates the cattle drives along the Shawanee Trail, the first trail used to bring Texas Longhorns to the northern railroads.

Our rating: Here, too, our visit was affected by the very bad weather. We had about a 10 minute break in the rain, which unfortunately was only enough for a very brief look. The sculptures were great and we would have very much liked to have a little more time to look at everything properly.
The Mustangs of Las Colinas
Description: Artist Robert Glen created these great bronze sculptures in 1976, and they are located in Williams Square in Las Colinas. They were installed in 1984.

Our rating: I was particularly looking forward to this fountain with the great sculptures. Unfortunately, it was raining cats and dogs when we visited the fountain in February 2018. Here, too, we would have liked a few minutes of rain break to look at everything.
