Honey Island Swamp Tour
Description: While in Louisiana, one of the activities we definitely had on our list was a tour of the swamps. We think it's part of experiencing the South. We became aware of the Honey Island Swamp Tour through a brochure in our hotel.
During our tour in August 1994 we had a small group on a relatively small boat. The guide told us a lot of interesting things about the area and the swamps. We were also lucky enough to see one or two alligators.
In the past 26 years, the tours have certainly changed a lot. But the organizer still exists. All about the tours can be learned on the official homepage.
Our rating: We had fun on the tour. The marshes are just part of the South from our point of view, because they are all around you, especially here in Louisiana. You drive through landscapes that are really unusual at least for us. The alligators bobbing in the water everywhere were an added bonus.
