Big Lookout Mountain

Description: If you take Exit 338 off Interstate 84, you will reach Lookout Mountain Rd. You will now drive northeast on a dirt road for about 15mi to Big Lookout Mountain. The road is mostly good, sometimes a little rough. We drove about halfway. Neither four wheel drive nor high clearance was necessary.

Our rating: The evaluation of this location is really difficult. We had seen photos before and thought that we might like it here. But as it sometimes happens, the idea you have of a location doesn't always match the reality. First of all, the road was much further than we thought. Because we hadn't planned that much time and because the trail wasn't really very exciting, we didn't drive all the way to Lookout Mountain. After the vacation we had a look at the views from the top and didn't regret not investing more time. But as always, everything is a matter of opinion and taste.
