Nevada City
Description: Founded in 1863, Nevada City quickly developed into a major commercial center. After the gold rush, however, Nevada City met a fate similar to that of many places in the West. People left the city and the buildings became more and more dilapidated. In the mid-19th century, Charles Sue Bavey began restoring the buildings. As a result, 14 of the original Nevada City buildings were preserved. Most of the 108 buildings standing here today came from all over Montana and were reconstructed here. Nevada City is now a tourist attraction centered around the Museum and Music Hall.
Our rating: We cannot give a proper evaluation because we did not visit the museum due to lack of time. We were only able to take a look over the fence. Should we ever be in the area again, we can well imagine spending an afternoon here.
