Pennsylvania State Capitol

Description: Designed by architect Joseph Miller Huston, the building opened in 1906, after four years of construction. It was the third Capitol building to be built in Harrisburg. The Capitol is nicknamed the Palace of Art, because it is home to numerous sculptures, paintings and beautifully designed stained glass windows.

Our rating: We visited the Capitol in the fall of 2013. Unfortunately, we did not have enough time to explore the building from the inside. Nevertheless, we enjoyed the visit, because the outdoor area around the Capitol is also really beautifully designed and it was fun to take a look around.
One little note. As it is often the case, it was hard to find a parking spot near the Capitol in Harrisburg. If you don't want to go inside the building, it would be a good idea to come on the weekend.
