Brooklyn Bridge
Description: When the Brooklyn Bridge opened in 1883, it was the longest suspension bridge in the world. It spans the East River and connects the boroughs of Manhattan and Brooklyn. The bridge is one of the city's landmarks and is visited by millions of tourists every year. There is a separate level for pedestrians and cyclists to cross the bridge. From Manhattan, the access is on Centre St, right next to City Hall. From Brooklyn, you can access the bridge at the intersection of Prospect St and Washington St via a few steps. If you have a little more time, you should also take a detour to Empire Fulton Ferry Park in Brooklyn. Here you can find the historic Jane´s Carousel and you have a great view on the Brooklyn Bridge and the Manhattan skyline.
Our rating: For us, a walk across the Brooklyn Bridge is part of every visit to New York City. It is simply an experience, because it offers countless great views of Manhattan and Brooklyn. Even if you don't have that much time to cross the entire bridge, it's worth a short detour.
