Letchworth SP

Description: Letchworth SP is located in the western Finger Lakes region. It runs about 15mi in a north-south direction along the Genesee River. The gorge that the river has carved over time is up to 656ft deep. In addition, there are numerous waterfalls of which the Lower, Middle and Upper Falls, in the south of the park, are the most famous. Besides the waterfalls, there are numerous recreational opportunities. There is an extensive network of hiking trails, where you can explore the park on foot.

Our rating: Unfortunately, we did not have really good weather during our visit in October 2010 and so the colors of the brightly colored trees did not really come into focus. Nevertheless, we liked the park very much, because even without the sun the large gorge, which is also called Grand Canyon of the East, is very impressive. There are numerous viewpoints and also the opportunity to stretch your legs a bit, because to get to the waterfalls, you have to hike small, easy trails. We can definitely recommend a visit here.
