General information about the National Park
Mount Revelstoke National Park protects the area around the mountain by the same name in the Canadian Rocky Mountains. It does not offer a lot of tourist infrastructure and is perhaps therefore left out by many tourists on their way to the more famous national parks in the Rockies.

Meadows in the Sky Parkway
Description: The Meadows in the Sky Parkway is one of the few facilities that visitors can travel along to explore the park. The parkway is 16mi long and leads to the parking lot at Balsam Lake. From here, a 0.6mi hiking trail leads to the summit of Mount Revelstoke. A handful of other trails start from the same parking lot and allow visitors to explore the surrounding area.
Our rating: Unfortunately, when we visited the National Park in July 2002, the Parkway was not passable up to the summit. Because there was still a lot of snow, we could only drive about half the distance. From the place where the road was closed, we walked about 1mi up the mountain to enjoy the beautiful panoramic view all around. Should we ever be back in the area is the Parkway definitely remain on our bucket list.
