Drumheller

Alberta

Our visits: So far 1 visit in July 2002

Drumheller

Description: Drumheller is a small town about 110km east of Calgary. It became famous mainly because of the huge finds of dinosaur bones, which were made here in 1884. In addition, there are a lot of picturesque badlands around the town.

Our rating: Drumheller is a small, rather sleepy little village. Since it is very nicely situated and you pass by here anyway if you are interested in the dionosaur bones, it is worth a little stopover.

3/5

Hoodoos

Description: The hoodoos can be found about 16km east of town, just off Highway 10. Coordinate: Latitude 51.380348; Longitude -112.534686. When we visited the hoodoos in 2002, we were still allowed to walk between them and climb all around. This is no longer possible.

Our rating: The group of hoodoos is quite small and possibly a bit unspectacular if you know the many hoodoos in the southwest of the USA. Nevertheless, we liked the little detour and we think if you are already here, it is worth the small detour.

3/5

Royal Tyrell Museum

Description: Named after the geologist Joseph Burr Tyrell, who discovered the dinosaur bones, the museum is known worldwide. It is home to one of the largest collections, with 40 complete dionosaur skeletons.

Our rating: A very interesting museum and a must for all dino fans and paleontologists. We liked it here very much.
