Lake Placid
Description: Located in the Adirondack Mountains, this small winter sports resort hosted the Winter Olympics in 1932 and 1980. It was named after the nearby lake with the same name. Around the town there are plenty of opportunities for sports activities. Not only in winter, the mountains attract athletes from all over the world. In addition, there is an Olympic Museum to learn everything worth knowing about the Olympic history of the place.

Our rating: We made a short visit to Lake Placid in early October 2002. The leaf coloration was still at the beginning and therefore not yet super spectacular. Nevertheless, we liked the place and also the surroundings quite well. With a little more time, we plan to visit again.
