Grosse Point Lighthouse
Description: The lighthouse is located about 13mi north of Chicago in Evanston, Illinois. It was built in 1873 after numerous accidents occurred off the coast. In 1976, Grosse Point Lighthouse was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
In case you want to use the attached beach and swim in the ocean, it costs $8/person.
Our rating: We were at Grosse Point Lighthouse on a sunny afternoon in June 2017. It was closed when we visited, so we could only walk around the garden. Nevertheless, we liked it here a lot. The buildings and lighthouse make for a pretty sight. Anyone interested in lighthouses will certainly be able to spend an interesting hour or two here.
