Rockefeller Center
Description: The Rockefeller Center is a complex of buildings that extends over three streets and includes several skyscrapers. They are located between 5th and 6th Avenue. The tallest building is the Comcast Building with 70 floors. Rockefeller Center is known worldwide for its annual Tree Lighting Ceremony, where always at the beginning of December more than 30000 lights are lit on a huge Christmas tree. Another attraction of the complex is the Radio City Music Hall, a concert hall, where all the big stars of the music world have been on stage. In addition, there are also several television studios here, where daily shows such as the Today Show and the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon are recorded and produced. For all shows you can reserve Tickets and attend the show live. The Today Show is also often recorded on the street in front of the NBC building. With a little luck, you can experience Hollywood stars up close here.
Our rating: Rockefeller Center is quite a nice complex. There is always something going on in front of the Prometheus statue. In summer there is a nice café where you can sit outside and in winter the famous ice rink is set up. There are also the two flagship stores of Lego and Nintendo, two stores that always invite you to explore and make the child heart in us beat faster. Rockefeller Center is part of a visit to New York City at least for us.
Top of the Rock
Description: For us, the top attraction of Rockefeller Center is definitely Top of the Rock. The entrance to the Observation Deck is located on 50th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues.
The Observation Deck is located on the 70th floor at the very top of the Rockefeller Center roof. From here you have a 360 degree view over the city. Everything you need to know about Top of the Rock can be found at the official webpage.
Our rating: For us, Top of the Rock offers the best view of the city. You are not quite as high up as on the One World Trade Center or the Empire State Building, but you have a great view from up here. Especially the Empire State Building can be seen very well from up here. Top of the Rock is also the only viewing platform from which you can see Central Park.
