Carson City
Description: Carson City has been the capital of the state of Nevada since 1861. It was named after the scout and mountain man Christopher Kit Carson. The city was made famous by Mark Twain, who lived here.
The Nevada State Capitol was built in 1871 and the building has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1975.
Our rating: Since we always quite enjoy the capitols of the states we visited, we of course had to check this one out as well. Unlike all the others we visited, there are no security checks here. This may be mainly due to the fact that only some of the state's concerns are decided here. Since the building had become too small, large parts of the government are divided among neighboring buildings. Anyone interested in the history of Nevada should definitely make a small stop here.
