Our visits: So far 1 visit in June 2023
Cathedral Gorge SP
Description: The park was established in 1935, which makes it among the oldest sate parks in Nevada. It is a conservation area of particular geological interest with a spectacular landscape of eroded soft bentonite clay covering nearly 730 acres. Members of the Civilian Conservation Corps constructed picnic facilities that are still in use today, as well as a stone water tower and a stone toilet that are no longer in use.
Our rating: Unfortunately, the park is a bit off the usual southwest routes and so it took a while until we visited the park for the first time in June 2023. We especially liked the Cathedral Caves. The rocks that really look like cathedral walls were very impressive. You can find your own way and explore the great rocks on your own. At times you feel like in a narrow labyrinth from which you have to find the exit. In addition, there are also five official trails on which you can hike the different areas of the park. We especially liked the view from Miller Point. Here you can get a nice overview of large parts of the park. Overall, a small but very worthwhile park that definitely deserves a visit.
